Stephen Curran - Founder, Catalysis Hubs

My name is Stephen Curran. I've spent my career navigating organisational tension - the need to balance performance with purpose, and commercial priorities with wider social responsibility.

As a school leader, I helped significantly increase progression from low-income communities into higher education and employment, at the same time improving performance and reputation across partner institutions.

In the private sector, I’ve helped reduce health inequalities while delivering multi-million-pound revenue growth and building high-performing teams both in the UK and abroad.

What connected those successes was a crystal clear combination of instinct and insight - the understanding that collaboration aligns incentives to drive better outcomes across the board.

But success can be fragile. Policy shifts, funding cycles and shareholder priorities can force organisations back into siloed ways of working - often undoing collaborative progress.

A ‘cold light of reality’ that led me to explore the deeper science behind transformation - complex systems thinking and evolutionary science that both led to the same conclusion - that cooperation isn't just the right thing to do. It's what healthy, adaptive systems are built on.

A transformational truth that has connected me with a global network of working models, researchers and innovators all focused on building economies that create value for people and place - not just a select few.

Stephen chairs Pro Manchester's Social Mobility Committee - one of the region's most influential business networks - and is working with UCL's Institute for Global Prosperity, ProSocial World and the New Paradigm Coalition - an international network of leading economists, evolutionary scientists and systems thinkers including Professor Dennis Snower and Professor David Sloan Wilson. Vital work to build the research foundation and help the model scale with integrity and deliver lasting impact.
